Wolverine Strength & Conditioning

REGISTRATION OPENS TUESDAY, JANUARY 21st AT 7AM!

This is a 3 athlete team lifting event.

Divisions:

MALE OPEN TEAM

FEMALE OPEN TEAM

MIXED GENDER OPEN TEAMteams will consist of 4 lifters, two males and 2 females.

MASTER MALE TEAM (Combined team age must be greater than 110, no teammate can be younger than 35 years old) *there will be no prizes for this division.  Banners will ONLY be given for 1st place.

MASTERS FEMALE TEAM (Combined team age must be greater than 110, no teammate can be younger than 35 years old) *there will be no prizes for this division.  Banners will ONLY be given for 1st place.

Masters Prizes – We understand this may not be liked, but the last time we did this event we had 2 male masters teams and 6 female masters teams.

  1. Teams will ONLY go out onto the lifting floor twice.  Once for OLY (18 total min on the floor to lift) and once for POWER (22min on the floor to lift).
  2. For the OLY for ALL same gender teams- EACH lifter on the team MUST lift (score) one of the oly lifts.  This means that one lifter will HAVE TO lift both oly lifts.  Example:

Lifter A

Lifter B

Lifter C

Snatch

Clean & Jerk

  1. For the Power Lifts for ALL same gender teams – EACH lifter MUST lift (score) at least 2 of the lifts.  This means that each lifter will have to do 2 of the lifts (if someone lifts all three, they can only count 2 towards the team’s score).  Example:

Lifter A

Lifter B

Lifter C

For the 4 lifter MIXED GENDER DIVISION – ALL athletes will perform every lift.  Every lift will be counted towards the team’s final score.

Teammates will ALL weigh in. For oly, we will use Sinclair and for Power we will use Wilks. Score will be combined weight lifted on a given lift (i.e. the two highest back squat numbers from 2 of the teammates) against their COMBINED bodyweight. Each athlete will be denoted with an A, B, or C as well as a team number. Example: Athletes A and B each weight 200#’s and they each snatch 225 (keeping this simple). Their total weight lifted will be 450 and their bodyweight will be 400. We then use these numbers with the Sinclair coefficient to get their score on the leaderboard for the Snatch.

These coefficients sole purpose is to normalize a Total (either Oly or Power Lifting) across the range of lifters body weights. The overall winner will be determined by their WILKS + their SINCLAIR combined TOTAL. If you want to know more about wilks and or sinclair, google it.

WINNING TEAMS will be determined by SINCLAIR TOTAL + WILKS TOTAL.

Spotters – Since the team consists of three athletes, they will also serve as the spotters, loaders, etc. NO ONE other than the lifters will be allowed in the lane with the exception of the judge.

Weighing in – You MUST wear at least underwear when weighing in. Other than that, you can weigh in however you choose.

ACCEPTABLE EQUIPMENT: Lifting Shoes, Knee sleeves or wraps, lifting belts, wrist wraps (NOT LIFTING STRAPS), elbow sleeves, chalk.

BARBELLS – We will be providing standard mens and womens bars (mens bars will be counted as 45#, women’s bars at 35#). All weight provided will be in pounds. Teams ARE allowed to bring their own specialty bars if they wish (oly bearing bar, deadlift bar, etc). Bars brought by a team are 100% that team’s responsibility. They must be brought onto the floor and off the floor by the team. Lex Artis will have zero responsibility for personal bars. Bars MUST be straight bars (no trap bars for deadlifting….) and they MUST not interfere with any other team in the lanes next to you.

Judges and Movement Standards: Judges will be provided to you. Movement standards will be as follows (***This is NOT a Traditional OLY or Powerlifting Meet, some standards are different***):

For a lift to count, the lifter and the equipment MUST stay inside of the tape lines on the floor at ALL times. If a lifter so much as steps even a foot over the line while lifting that lift will NOT count. This is for the safety of judges and athletes alike. The same rule applies to your equipment. If you drop your lift and the bar goes outside of your lane, this is again counted as a NO LIFT. If you unload a barbell poorly from the rack (unload ALL of the weight off one side and not the other) and the bar flips through the air, your team is disqualified. Take a breath, there is enough time to load and unload in a safe manner. Clips MUST be used on all lifts.

Clean and Jerk – The bar starts on the ground and ends up in the front rack position on the athlete. The bar is then jerked overhead and the athlete finishes the lift completely stood up with the bar locked out overhead. Acceptable variations will be lifting the bar from the ground, but then starting the lift from the hang position. Any method of getting the bar overhead is acceptable (strict press, push press, push jerk, split jerk). Any variation of clean is acceptable (split clean, muscle clean, power clean, squat clean). Both feet must finish together underneath the athlete and control of the bar must be visible to the judge.

Snatch – The bar starts on the ground and ends up held over the athlete’s head with the athlete fully standing up. The bar cannot come in contact with the athlete’s chest, shoulders, head, or neck during the lift. The bar cannot be caught any lower than the top of the athletes head. If the athlete falls to a knee, or both knees, or their butt, they can still try to save the lift by standing it up from there. As long as the bar starts on the ground, stopping at the hang position and then completing the lift from there is acceptable. Acceptable variations will be muscle snatch, power snatch, squat snatch, split snatch.

Back Squat – The bar starts in the rack. Athlete takes the bar from the rack and starts it an upright standing position. Lowers until hip crease is below their knee (below parallel) and then stands back up to upright with hips open. Stations will NOT have safety squat arms. Please know how to fail safely on a squat.

Deadlift – The bar starts on the ground and is lifted by the athlete until shoulders are behind the bar and hips are open with athlete standing upright (knees, hips, and shoulders are in line). BOTH Sumo and Conventional style lifts are permitted for this competition.

Bench press – The bar starts in the rack. The athlete (he can use the spotter for a lift off the rack) takes the bar from the rack and starts with arms fully outstretched. Bar is lowered and must come in contact with the chest and then is pressed back to arms being full outstretched. Arching of the back is permitted. Once the arms return to a locked out position, the spotter may help guide the bar back into the rack. NOTE: we will NOT be judging this lift based on your butt/hips coming off the bench. The lifters feet MUST be in contact with the floor.

Registration opens January 21st, at 7am!
