Frequently asked questions

PLEASE, check these out BEFORE emailing us

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

Our refund policy is NOT something we hide in the fine print.  It is located on the event page on our website, on the facebook event page, on the written workouts (once released), and on the heat assignments (once released).  It can also be found HERE.

I'M ON THE WAITLIST, WHEN WILL I GET A SPOT?!?

Once an event sells out the ONLY ways a spot becomes available is:

  • We open an additional lane(s).  (very rare)
  • An individual/team drop out of the event leaving an open spot (happens at almost every event we have)

If we are greater than 30 days out from the event we will go in order down the wait list.  If/when a spot opens up we will backfill from the top of the waitlist.  That team will get an invoice sent directly to the email address provided to pay the balance of the registration fee.  If that invoice is not paid in the time frame mentioned in the instructions, the invoice is cancelled and that team moves back to the bottom of the waitlist.

If we are within 30 days of the event date, we will email EVERYONE left on the waitlist that a spot has become available and it will be first come first serve to the team/individual that emails back first.

WHERE ARE THE EVENT PHOTOS?!?!

By signing up for an event you are NOT guaranteed to get photos of yourself (or multiple photos of yourself).  We do our best to capture the event, but there are 100-200 of you and only one photographer. If guaranteed photos of yourself are a priority you must bring your own photographer to shoot only you from behind the caution tape.  This doesn’t change the fact that we do TRY OUR BEST to get photos of everyone competing.

Photos will ALWAYS be posted within one week (7 days) of the event taking place.  Photos will be placed into an online album and shared via social media. The link will also be posted to our website.    Photos can be downloaded from this link. You are welcome to download and use these photos however you wish.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR YOUR EVENTS?

  • Individual events $83.99 + processing fees
  • Partner events, 3 person teams, & 4 person teams: $75/athlete + processing fees
  • 6 athlete teams: $66.66/athlete + processing fees

*pricing is subject to change at the sole discretion of Lex Artis

WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE LEX ARTIS HOST AN EVENT AT OUR GYM, WHAT DO WE DO?

Please be aware that we are not actively looking for event locations at this moment.  That doesn’t mean we aren’t open to having a conversation, but this is not something we are actively seeking out.  IF you are interested, please start by asking yourself a few questions:

  1. Do you have enough room in your gym for competition floor?  That is at least 6 even sized lanes with access to the same equipment (squat racks, pull up bars, WB targets, etc)
  2. Do you have enough room for people when they are NOT working out?
  3. Do you have enough room for a warm up area?
  4. Do you have enough equipment?

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, but a place to start.  If you are interested in speaking with us, email us at info@lex-artis.net

I WON AN EVENT VOUCHER, WHY ISN'T THE CODE WORKING?!?!

You haven’t read the back of the card for instructions for how to redeem.  The likelihood that you are reading this is pretty low, but it makes me feel better knowing it is here.

CAN I GET A COPY OF YOUR PARTICIPANT WAIVER?

Sure!  Click HERE

HOW LONG IS THE EVENT?

Almost all of our events start at 9am.  Check in will open at 7:30am.  We allow for 3-4min between heats, and 25-30min between workouts.  We shoot to have floor workouts done as close to 5pm as possible.  We work to get final scores entered and announce the podium within 20min of the final heat of the last workout ending.

*Barbell Classic events do follow a slightly different timeline.

We work very hard to keep our events ON TIME per the shared and posted schedule for that event.

WHEN WILL THE WORKOUTS BE POSTED?!?!

Unless otherwise stated, we will have workouts posted 30 days prior to the event date.  IF the event is one that takes place over multiple weekends, we will have the workouts posted 30 days prior to the FIRST weekend of that event.  There are events when we have the workouts posted sooner than 30 days prior, but this is done at our sole discretion.

CAN I CHANGE MY TEAM NAME, DIVISION, SHIRT SIZE, PARTNER, ETC AFTER I SIGN UP?!?

YES!  Best part, you DON’T have to e-mail us!

Whoever signed up the team has the ability to change ANY or ALL of the team details.  There are two ways to do this:

  1. On the confirmation email you received from throwdowns.com there is a link you can click to “view registration”.  Click this and from there you can edit anything you need to.
  2. login to www.throwdowns.com with the email address and password you used when you signed up.  Once you are there you will see the event(s) you are signed up for.  Click “View Registration” and from there you can edit anything you need to.

***WE TURN THIS FEATURE OFF ONCE WE EXPORT THE DATA TO CREATE HEAT ASSIGNMENTS AND PLACE THE SHIRT ORDER (~30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT DATE ITSELF)***

WHAT IF I NEED TO SCALE?!?!

Lex Artis events will have ONE WRITTEN STANDARD for an event.  If you perform the workout as we have it written in the full event write up, you have competed as prescribed.

Unless we state otherwise, WE ALLOW SCALING AT ANY OF OUR EVENTS!  Athletes can choose to scale ANY MOVEMENT, ANY REP COUNT, ANY WEIGHT to meet their own personal abilities.  Once you scale any part of the written workout your score will be entered into the leaderboard as a “scaled” score and it will fall below any team’s score that did that workout (scored part of a workout) as prescribed.  We will still judge you on your new standard, we will still keep your score, and it will still show up on the leaderboard. You will not however be eligible for the podium. If you only scale one scored part of one workout, that is the ONLY score that will show up on the leaderboard as “scaled”, all others will show that you did them as prescribed.

IF you choose to scale a workout or part of a workout, YOU MUST LET YOUR JUDGE KNOW PRIOR TO STARTING THE WORKOUT.  You do not need to email us days or weeks ahead of time letting us know (this can be 100% a gametime decision.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CHANGE SOMETHING AFTER THE 30 DAY MARK?

Changes are handled on an individual basis.  ALL requests must be sent to info@lex-artis.net

We do print all event paperwork the Wednesday or Thursday prior to the event.  Sometimes sooner as event paperwork needs to be mailed to the event location.  Once we print paperwork we cannot accept change requests as this creates a discrepancy between what is online and what is on the printed paperwork the event leads will be using the run the event.

Emailing us Friday night prior to the event itself is not a good plan.  There is a very good chance we were in bed asleep and didn’t see the email until after the event ended.

WHAT IF I GET INJURED LEADING UP TO AN EVENT?

Unfortunately, you injuring yourself does not change our REFUND POLICY.  We do allow you to swap our your spot in the event for either just you or your team, but you must find your replacement(s).  Please make sure to read the TRANSFER POLICY section as well.

I SENT A MESSAGE AND I NEVER HEARD BACK!?!

Did you send it via facebook messenger?  You received an automated reply telling you to email us and that we don’t check FB messages.  Did you send it via instagram message?  There is no automated response, but in our profile description we state we don’t use the messenger service and to email us.  Did you tweet us?  We don’t have twitter.   Did you send us a postcard?  We don’t give out our address.

WE ONLY USE E-MAIL!  info@lex-artis.net

We do this because we need a centralized place for communication in order to do our best to make sure that changes and requests don’t fall through the cracks.   And, we’re old and don’t like that every social media platform thinks they need a messenger service.

*We are NOT responsible for e-mails that get caught in either our spam, social, or promotions folders.  We do our best to catch these, but it is not a perfect system.  We work extremely hard to respond to every email we receive in a timely fashion.  If you feel we are not responding to you, try emailing us again.  Make sure you are using the correct email address, info@lex-artis.net
